14 Apr Slot Canyon
In places so narrow that you’ll need to turn sideways, the Slot Canyon is not stout-friendly. Its vertical walls in places reach up some forty feet above a canyon floor that can be a foot wide. The canyon was formed by eons of surging flash floods, sweeping violently through its siltstone and sandstone walls. This 0.8-mi (one way) trek, with a barely-noticeable 100 ft elevation loss, is punctuated by its passage underneath a gravity-defying rock arch, which is visible in nodes 7 and 8 of our tour.
