East Side of Eureka

East Side of Eureka

This view of the east side of the Eureka Historic District includes a mix of nineteenth-century structures plus some modern additions. Not an actual panoramic photograph, it was created by blending together a series of images made along a two-block stretch of Main Street. The Eureka Opera House is one of the best preserved nineteenth-century theaters in the nation. The neighboring Jackson Hotel is also a notable local landmark. It was built in 1877 and refurbished in 1880 after fire damage.
