This is Judy Strauss (at Burning Man 2011), who loved the Black Rock Playa so much that she set up her gongs there each year to provide a meditation experience for one and all. She loved the Playa so much that she found herself alone out there on Valentine’s Day, 2018, when she left this world.
She had a business Ph.D., but was an unreformed hippy, an iconoclast who always swayed to her own drum circle. She was the one who brought me out for my job interview in Nevada, so without her there would have been no “All Around Nevada,” nor all the Nevada-based paths in my life for which I’m so fortunate. Many will long remember Judy; her gong vibrations continue to echo.
